Sharing experiences of Wagga's Haven for the elderly

The story of how The Haven began is truly wonderful. The founders of Radio 2WG and the 2WG Women's Club felt the community's need for an aged care facility so strongly that they put all their efforts into fundraising to bring it about. Prior to the establishment of the Haven relatives were forced to send their loved ones to Sydney for care, knowing that they would rarely see them. The 2WG Women's Club worked tirelessly raising money and in 1955 the first stage of The Haven was opened. The 2WG Women's Club no longer exists but 2WG continues to support The Haven.

We would like to build an archive of The Haven and it's role in Wagga. By clicking on comments below you can share your memories and experiences of The Haven. By posting your recollections on this blog you are giving the copyright to Wagga Wagga City Library and they will join with others to preserve the memories for the local community.
